My son turns 5 in June and he is very much interested in Kart racing. I have been around and raced cars all my life but have never had any exposure to Karts. Where would I look for a safe used kart for my son to start off in. I'm looking for something he can learn on not necessarily something he can go too fast in. I have been looking on Craigslist and some local classified sites but can only find the bigger Karts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would continue to look on the karting websites (there is a link the SKRA website to most regional tracks). We have a club meeting this coming Tuesday. We can ask at the meeting and send out an e-mail to the club members to see if they know of any karts for sale.
I would also recommend posting on the forums, such as Tri-Cities and others, that you are looking for a kart.

You may have tried this already but if not, search C/L using a variety of search characters such as kart, go kart, kid kart, cadet kart and then use CART with each. Different items show up with those changes. Most kart related listings will show up in Tri-Cities, Seattle, Skagit, Portland, Bend and Boise. A lot of Canadian stuff shows up in a Bellingham search seeing the Abbotsford track is close by. Another resource is a website called "racingjunk.com" and search for karts, its nationwide so you may find what you want but will need to have it shipped in. Here's one in FLA - www.racingjunk.com/Complete-Karts/182383663/Top-Kart-Kid-Kart-Comer-50.htmlAnother is called "kartfinds.com", this one is a collection of stuff with locations on a googlemap and links to each one listed on eBay and C/L. Good Luck!
