LO206 Pros:
- Sealed RACING engine package, built in the factory to very exacting specs to ensure that all engines have consistent performance (driver and chassis tuning are what wins, not HP) - Easily upgradable from Junior to Senior packages at minimal cost (carb slide, and/or coil) - Factory written rules package that is the same no matter what organisation you are racing with (take it anywhere and the rules are the same) - Rules package that allows for very little to be tuned/prepped on the engines which is great for beginners or people not mechanically inclined - think the "KISS" principle (you can align carb, change needle clip position, set valve lash, change valve springs, lap valves, and very little else) - Built for RACING and OVER-ENGINEERED for the demands put on the engine, ensuring reliability and making the engine virtually maintenance-free - Great value for the money
LO206 CONS (note that for many of us who love the LO206, many of these are PROS):
- If you are a DIY'er and like to open things up and build and re-build engines, and try to gain a HP advantage, the sealed engine package and tight factory rules set is not for you - Initial cost is higher than a box-stock clone package (but generally much lower than most any other "prepped" clone) - Has to be purchased through an authorized Briggs Motorsports dealer (only really bad if you don't like supporting KART SHOPS - you know, the guys who support us racers)
There was a lot of negativity towards its introduction before the season started, but the last 2 months have seen almost all of the existing group of Honda/Clone racers change tune after numerous blown engines, with most of them realizing that the cost to re-build their modified Honda/clones will be better spent buying a brand new RACING engine that will last, and provide for better and closer racing.

Here's an opportunity to get involved with LO206 Briggs on a national level. Baker Racing is attempting to get as many clubs and promoters as possible together to get rules standardized so people can race Briggs 4 Cycle anywhere. Here's a link to the eKarting News BRIGGS 4 CYCLE thread and it contains the conference call phone number, date and time along with other pertinent info. ekartingnews.com/forums/topic/2015-lo206-program/
