Hi everyone! I just discovered the skra and am super excited to possibly get started in karting. The problem is that I have pretty much no knowledge on how to get started, particularly on a competitive new kart to purchase and what kind of classes there are and what i would be racing being a beginner. I'm 28yo, 130lbs, and 5'6" tall. I have 3 to 4K that I would be willing to spend on a kart. I would be willing to dish out a few more bucks if it meant I could get a reliable kart that would be competitive. I really need some direction from there. Somebody told me to start in the LO206 class and referred me to this kart - www.margay.com/karts/used-margay-karts-for-sale/230. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone had some input on this package and Margay racing and could help steer me in the right direction. Thanks!

Nick, Welcome!. You can contact myself or any of our board members and we will be glad to help you get started. The LO206 is definitely the way to go if you are just starting out. In my opinion you don't necessary need to buy a new kart just to be competitive. You will not be right competitive out of the gate even with the best equipment. You will need seat time to make that happen. Just find a inexpensive kart to start out. Check the classified section here and in Tri Cities. If you really have you heart set on a new or newer kart contact Ricky or Chris at Midnight Motorsports in the Tri Cities. They have been around the sport for years and will sell you only what you need to get going. They stand behind the products and are only a few hours away. We also have a monthly meeting at Round Table Pizza in the Valley. It's the first Tuesday of the month @ 6:30 PM. If a good way to meet the board and have any questions answered face to face.
